Phosphoric acid is an inorganic, medium-strength acid. Its salts are called phosphates.
Phosphoric acid can be produced from raw phosphate and sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid or nitric acid.
Phosphoric acid is used as a starting material for the production of phosphate-containing fertilizers. It is also used as an alloy additive for iron and zinc as protection against corrosion.
